It was difficult when there were a few negative comments. But I have the girls and they are like my family now. For every bad comment there are hundreds of nice ones."

Jessica Louise "Jesy" Nelson (born June 14, 1991; age 23) is a member of the British girl group Little Mix, along with Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Perrie Edwards.

Early Life

Jesy was born in Romford, Essex, in the United Kingdom. She has one elder sister named Jade, and two brothers named Joseph and Jonathan. It was reported that due to bullying Jesy had to move to different schools several times. She attended secondary school at the Jo Richardson Community School in Dagenham, where she was a dedicated drama and music student. She then attended Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College in Hornchurch, and to the Sylvia Young and Yvonne Rhodes theater school.

The X Factor (2011)

Jesy auditioned for The X Factor with the song "Bust Your Windows" by Jazmine Sullivan in Glasgow and received praise from both Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh. However, Gary Barlow wasn't impressed at all saying he just didn't get it. But Jesy was still able to move forward to bootcamp where she was eliminated.
She was then put in a four piece girl group called "Faux Pas" with then fellow contestant Perrie Edwards.
The group was unsuccessful, but the judges called both Jesy and Perrie back to be a part of a new four piece group Rhythmix, with Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
The band decided to change their name, due to difficulties with an organization with the same name, to "Little Mix".
On December 11, 2011, Little Mix were announced as the winners, making them the first ever group to win the show.
During The X Factor shows, Jesy was the victim of a horrible online campaign against her. She was exposed to nasty comments about her appearance and was visibly upset; she received huge support not only from Mixers (their fanbase's name), but other fans also.

DNA (2012)

Following The X Factor, the girls signed a contract with Sony Music subsidiary Syco Music.
Through a live stream via Twitcam they revealed that their debut single will be called "Wings".
Little Mix announced their debut album in September 2012 called DNA, which was released on November 19, 2012, and included UK Top 20 Chart Hits "DNA", "Change Your Life", and "How Ya Doin'?".
